Measured Up

An integral part of the 'sampling' nature of the ENVD program. This project analyzes the product characteristics and history of the modern tape measure. Cataloguing its assembly, feedback, and signifiers, and orthographic projections, in order to develop a better understanding of its design. Tracing back the origins of the tape measure to loose measurement tape still used for tailoring and fashion today, elucidates the interesting priorities of the construction industry when it is considered exactly how the tape measure was made more efficient via the rigidity and locking mechanisms of the modern product.
