Spatial Enclosure

The Design constructs a complex assembly that conveys a nuanced hierarchy of space. These elements are organized along an off-center major datum and several regulating lines. The degrees of enclosure highlight the hierarchy of the space in two distinct ways. First, one space at each level of the hierarchy is entirely implied. Second, the remaining spaces follow a gradient from least enclosed to most enclosed descending the hierarchy. The spatial relationships such as ‘Spaces Linked by Common Space’ and a ‘Space Within a Space’ are derived from each planar edge of the original assembly being registered in at least two of their three possible spatial influences.
